Our 5/8" premium three strand nylon rope in lengths of 100, 150, 200, 250 ft. is hand spliced into the first link of 5/16" Grade 43 ISO high test galvanized chain. The ISO short link makes it more flexible and ideally suited as windlass chain. Chain breaking strength is approximately 15,600 lbs. and rope breaking strength is approximately 10,400 lbs. Chain weight is approximately 10.3 lbs per 10ft. A link of 5/16" chain has an inside length of 1.03" and an inside width of .51".
Our chain/rope combinations are custom made. We welcome all custom requests and can make virtually any rope/chain combination.

We recommend 10' of anchor line plus chain for every 10' of water in which you expect to anchor. The conventional rule is to deploy 7 times the depth of the water plus the distance from the water to your bow. If the water is 10' and your bow is 5' above the water for a total of 15' and you deploy 7X you will have used approximately 100'. Thus the 10' for every 10' guideline.
We recommend the longest chain length that you can comfortably handle given the anchor deployment and retrieval situation with your boat. Important considerations are whether you will be using a windlass, the amount of storage space for rope and chain and the physical capabilities of the crew.
Chain serves two important purposes. It helps protect the anchor line from rough objects underwater and it acts as a weight that causes your anchor to move more parallel to the bottom rather than pulled upward toward the surface. This promotes a quicker setting and more reliable holding of your anchor.
